New Release and Review: Where The Little Birds Are by B. Celeste

Where the Little Birds Are by B. Celeste

My Thoughts and Review:
The second half of B. Celeste's Little Birds duet does not disappoint. Continuing in the same fashion, glimpses of the past from Kinley's POV as well as the present from both Kinley and Corbin. This book will have you cheering, angry, crying, and going through the whole spectrum of emotions. I love Corbin's dedication to Kinley, even when she tries to shut him out. I loved hating Lena with a passion. There was even a time when Gavin blew my mind and I was cheering him as well. So many times I literally slid away from my kindle and put my hands to my head after reading a scene. Such an amazing book.

Review: The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison

The Butterfly Garden (The Collector, #1)

My Thoughts and Review:

I bought this book for my first attempt at the PopSugar Reading Challenge in 2018.  Then, things got away from me and I found a different book for the prompt I was going to use it for.  So when it was one of the club books for this month in one of my book groups on Facebook I decided it was time to get it read.  OMG....why did I wait so long?  This is such a great book.  It is enthralling and chilling.  It keeps you entertained.  There were so many unexpected turns. For the most part being told from the perspective of a victim retelling what they have been through. Maya/Inara is an amazingly strong young woman. The Gardener and his oldest son are creepy, disgusting and terrible men. So glad I finally got this book read. Looking forward to finishing the series now.

Blurb:

Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden.

In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees…and a collection of precious “butterflies”—young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.

When the garden is discovered, a survivor is brought in for questioning. FBI agents Victor Hanoverian and Brandon Eddison are tasked with piecing together one of the most stomach-churning cases of their careers. But the girl, known only as Maya, proves to be a puzzle herself.

As her story twists and turns, slowly shedding light on life in the Butterfly Garden, Maya reveals old grudges, new saviors, and horrific tales of a man who’d go to any length to hold beauty captive. But the more she shares, the more the agents have to wonder what she’s still hiding...

DALTON

Our sins are written in blood, and only blood can atone for what we’ve done.

Retribution comes in unexpected forms. Mine has amber eyes. Golden hair. A smile that could kill. She was mine the minute I dragged her down to hell, and now we’re both paying the price.

I tried to save her… and failed.

GRACE

Rumors call him the Morning Star. My father only called him the devil.

The man who saved my life in one second and destroyed it in the next has returned for me. He says he’s not leaving until I’m his. The issue is, he’ll have to break past my grudge--and a pretty big gun--if he wants me.

I took a shot at the devil… and missed.

My Thoughts and Review:

First, have you met Dalton Kavanaugh?????  He is an A$$hole with a capital A.  But he the type of character that even when he is a supporting character you can't help but love.  After reading Blood Sky and Angel of Death I have been anxiously awaiting Dalton's story.  S. Massery blew this one out of the water.  Talk about a home run here.

In Morning Star we meet Grace Jones.  Daughter of a mob enforcer, forced into an engagement to the mob bosses son, after he tries to sell her as a sex slave.  Wait?!?.....What?!?  This girl is being put through hell by her own father.  I mean really that is some terrible luck.  Thank goodness Dalton comes to her rescue.  But who is really saving who here.

Dalton may be an a$$hole, but he has more than met his match with Grace.  She puts him in his place on more than one occasion.  Grace is just as amazing of a character as Dalton.  I love the way the whole crew comes to Dalton and Grace's aid.  In Morning Star we are joined by old favorites (Mason, Jackson, Zach, Griffin, Hadley, and Delia)  and we meet some new friends as well (Collin, and even Luca).

This book is absolutely amazing and will keep you turning pages right through to the end!!!!

Where the Little Birds Go

Blurb:

When best selling author Kinley Thomas gets the deal of a lifetime to see her book turned into a movie, the last person she expects to be cast as the leading role is Corbin Callum.

After years of living the dreams that tore them apart, Hollywood will soon force them back together. Because before Corbin became America's biggest star, he was first Kinley's biggest mistake.

Too bad for them, they never learn.

My Thoughts and Review:
This is an amazing second chance romance. Book one of a duet we meet Kinley and Corbin. We get glimpses of their past through Kinley's eyes, as well as their current situation from both POV. These characters are captivating. There are times I felt Kinley was being to hard on Corbin.  There were times I was frustrated with Corbin for not telling Kinley things.  The writing pulls you in. A great read, can't wait for book 2.

My Thoughts and Review:
Well, I want to have nothing but good things to say about this book.  I am new to Hazel Grace, but have been following the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection from book 1.  This is a different take on this fairy tale for sure.  While over all I enjoyed the story I struggled reading it.  I just couldn't get into it as much as other books.

I did enjoy the unique characters.  They were each well written.  The over all writing was also very good.  For me it was just a little slow moving.
