My Mount TBR 2020 Sign-up

So in my mind this picture is what my TBR pile looks like, if all of the books I owned were physical books.  In reality I happen to have 2,692 books on my Amazon account, of which I have read maybe 100.  I also have several physical books on my shelf at home that are just waiting to be read.

In 2018 I wanted to broaden my reading horizons and did the PopSugar reading challenge for the first time.  I completed all 50 prompts that year.  In 2019, I again completed all 50 prompts in the PopSugar reading challenge, as well as 2 additional challenges that I found in Facebook groups.  I love finding books that fit the prompts.  I usually tried to find something I already owned, but frequently would borrow a book from the library, or I would get a new ARC that fit the prompt.

Then today I stumbled on the #MountTBRChallenge on Instagram.  So I went in search.  I found the blog that sponsors this challenge and I am signing up.  I am aiming to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro (60 books from my TBR that I own prior to Jan 1, 2020) this year.  I will still be doing my other 3 challenges, but this one will help me stick to reading books I already own.

I am so super excited to finally start working on my ever growing never shrinking pile of owned books.  If you are interested in doing this as well please join me.  This link will take you to more information Mount TBR Reading Challenge

She tore both of our families apart with one confession, ending any chance of happiness for either of us and setting off a ripple effect of chaos.

Now she’s back as the new girl in school, and she doesn’t suspect the war that’s coming. She doesn’t realize the anger I’ve been harboring.

I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to ruin her life, and it’s finally here.

Because even traitors sleep—and I’m going to make sure she only dreams of me.

Then I’m going to destroy her.

New Release and Review: Manhattan by Kandi Steiner

Manhattan - RB banner.jpg
Manhattan, a standalone in the Becker Brothers series, a small town, country, friends-to-lovers romance, is LIVE!
The fire... the guitar... THE FEELS!
Manhattan Cover FINAL.png
Everyone knows not to fall in love with your best friend.
But when your best friend is Michael Becker, it’s impossible not to.
He’s everything our town knows a Becker brother to be: devastatingly handsome, charming as a thief, and the icing on the cake — a sentimental musician who’s never without his guitar.
And he was mine. At least, that’s what I’d convinced myself.
Our bond was born in elementary school, strengthened by circumstance and the promise to always be there for each other, no matter what. And the best thing about my life was being friends with Michael Becker.
Until it was the worst.
I watched him fall in love with someone else, and helped patch him back up when she left him behind. But when he drops the bomb that he’s moving to New York, I realize it’s my last chance to tell him how I feel. And I ask him to make one more promise.
One summer. One list of adventures to remind him that our small town has more to offer than memories of the girl who left him behind.
One last chance to tell him I’m in love with him.
And I’m just dumb enough to believe that maybe he could love me, too.

About Kandi:
Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

My Thoughts and Review
Have you met the Becker Brothers yet?!?  I have, and can I say I am in love with each and every one of them.  While each of these books can be read as a standalone, I personally recommend starting with "On The Rocks".

Now, lets talk about Manhattan!!!  This is one of the best friends-to-lovers romances I have read in a long time.  It is has so many feels! I lost track of how many times I cried happy tears.  It is a book you will not want to put down.  I admired Kylie so much.  The way she helped Mikey get over his heartbreak when Bailey left him, to the way she went after what she wanted.  You just have to love a strong willed girl.  Mikey, on the other hand, I frequently wanted to reach into the book and smack some sense into him.  That boy was so hung up on what he lost he was blind to what was right in front of him.

This is such an amazing book!  I can't wait for the 4th Becker Brothers book.  Although it will also make me sad as it will wrap up the series.

New Release and Review: Madness by Kailee Reese Samuels

Title: Madness
Series: Sinister Fairy Tales Collection
Author: Kailee Reese Samuels
Genre: Dark Romance/Reverse Harem
Release Date: December 17, 2019
As a starry-eyed child, I wanted to believe my shining prince would ride up on a white horse, present a diamond ring, and carry me away to his castle. His love would be endless and our lives would be the happily ever after all girls dreamed about. I never knew the fairytale was nothing more than a lie.

I was a good girl.
Until one night, one tiny trip, one little mistake, one moment of indiscretion.
When I fell down the rabbit hole, I stumbled into the absolute fantasy, succumbing to their whims and rituals. As their very naughty girl, I embraced the nightmare and refused to ever leave.
The Darkland is mine.
And those monsters will kneel before their one true Queen.

My Thoughts and Review:
Buckle up and hold on tight for this wild naughty ride.  The title of this book couldn't fit this story any better.  An incredibly naughty retelling of Alice in Wonderland.  Join Ellison on a journey through her own mind to find who she truly is.  She learns the truth about herself, and her past.  This is a fast paced, wild, and maddening tale.  Incredibly fun to read.  While, I frequently felt confused and wondered WTF is going on I walked away from this book feeling content.  I enjoyed the crazy way Ellison found the truth of herself.  Glad I read this book.
