New Release and Review: Mail Order Bride by Britney King

Title: Mail Order Bride
Author: Britney King
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Release Date: July 22, 2022

The bestselling author of the “clever spine-tingler” The Secretary returns with a vicious and suspenseful tale of love-gone-wrong.

When Joel answers an ad in the back of the Farmers’ Almanac that promises to deliver the perfect wife, he isn’t sure what to expect.

For sure, it isn’t Gina.

Gina was aware she possessed secret powers—that’s what her father called them—from a very young age. He always told her she would make a perfect bride. So that’s exactly what she became.

She knows she’s not supposed to use her “powers” for evil and destruction, but Pine Lake is a small place, and Gina has big dreams—plans, in fact. She also has charm, beauty, sex appeal, and intelligence.

Only two things stand in her way: the social norms of 1953, and her new husband, Joel.

The solution may call for desperate measures. But, then, if anyone can get away with murder, it’s Gina.

However, there’s something Gina has yet to realize. That handsome groom of hers? He’s a serial loner for a reason.

My Thoughts and Review:
This is one of those books that will hook you quickly and keep you reading.  It kept me guessing through out the story.  I enjoyed the unique characters.  It is well written and worth the read.

Britney King lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, children, a dog named Gatsby, one ridiculous cat, and a partridge in a peach tree.

New Release and Review: Hidden Waters by Catherine Cowles

"Addie and Beckett’s story is heart-achingly beautiful—Hidden Waters is another must-read from Catherine Cowles!— Samantha Young, New York Times Bestselling author

Hidden Waters, an all-new moving and passionate roommates to lovers, small-town romance from bestselling author Catherine Cowles, is available now!

My family tried to break me. But, somehow, I made it out alive, even though the wounds from that survival are forever carved into my bones. Now, my only wish is for…normal. To know what it’s like to have friends, a job, a home.

The last thing I want is for my new roommate to see the scars I’m so desperate to keep hidden, especially not the ruggedly handsome man who steals my breath and sends my heart into overdrive.

But something tells me that Beckett has demons, too. I see it in the shadows haunting his gorgeous eyes and the way he looks at me with gentle understanding.

As our unlikely friendship becomes so much more, forces from my life slink out of the shadows. And we could both lose everything we’ve fought so hard for—down to our very last breaths…

My Thoughts and Review:
I have to admit I was a little nervous about Addie's story. She had such a rough past I was afraid she wouldn't be able to trust a man. Beckett is the one member of the Easton clan we know almost nothing about from the first two books in this series.

These two, when they come together, incredible things happen. I loved how kind and patient Beckett was with Addie from the very beginning. He never pushed her. I mean "Purple Elephants" what more perfect code word could there be for hey I need you to back off for a bit.

This book is consuming. There were moments of pure joy, moments of terror. There were old favorite characters, old enemies, new characters to love and new ones to hate. There are so many things I would love to say about this story, but I refuse to spoil it for anyone. This may be the best in the Tattered & Torn series yet.

Listening to the audiobook was amazing. The narrators did such an incredible job of bringing these characters to life. The narration really helped add to the emotions of each scene.
