My Thoughts and Review:
Raised in a penthouse, only allowed to go feed the ducks at Central Park once a week for the first 12 years of her life Zell was the definition of sheltered, and naive. Still a virgin at almost 18 and been kept inside since her first period, she didn't even realize she was living in a brothel. Until Frankie arrived and everything changed.

Frankie has been dealing drugs for his father for years. Now that he is eighteen his father is ready to teach him more of the family business. Frankie already plans on leaving as soon as he can, he wants nothing to do with his father's illegal businesses. Then he meets Zell.

This is such an interesting modern day retelling of Rapunzel. The characters were well developed. I loved how the girls in the penthouse with Zell did their best to teacher her and protect her. I admired Frankie for wanting to be a good man when his father wanted him to continue dealing drugs and sex trafficking. The way everyone comes together and good prevails was incredible. There were even somethings I didn't see coming.

Before Zell was born, her fate was sealed.
Held captive in a high-rise overlooking New York City since the age of twelve, she had no friends her own age, no life outside of the penthouse, and absolutely no choices of her own. But what she didn’t realize was the tower where she lost her freedom would one day become her salvation. Her prince would arrive, they would fall in love, and they would come up with a plan for her to escape so they could live happily ever after.
If only it were that easy.
Every girl dreams of her life becoming a fairy tale, even Zell, who’s knowledge of romance was simply from the books she stole from other girls at the brothel.
In a world where sex, drugs, and manipulation is solely the life she knows, the only fairy tale poor Zell would endure would be a sinister one …
Because freedom always comes at a price.

"Now, son"—Frank squeezed Frank Jr's shoulder—"tonight, you can have any one of these ladies that you want. More than one if you’d like."
My heart, which had finally returned to its regular beat, felt as though it was cracking in my chest as I listened to what Frank said. Of course, that was why they were here.
"I told you I wasn't a virgin," Frank Jr. said in a low voice.
Frank chuckled. "That may be, but any one of these ladies will make sure you're well taken care of. You might learn some things. It's your birthday, enjoy it."
Frank Jr. replied, his voice still low, "Whores aren't my thing."
"These are the finest ones around, son. You'll be in safe hands. Take your pick, and then I can pick mine."
"And if I don't?" Frank Jr. asked.
"Then you'll piss me off," Frank stated, giving Frank Jr. a stern look.
"I can assure you," Madam cut in, "all of my girls are clean and well trained. They aren't like high school girls." She chuckled.
Frank Jr. looked at his father another moment and then stepped toward the line of girls. He still hadn't taken a sip of the vodka in his hand, and that made me nervous. I wasn't sure what Madam would do to me if Frank Jr. asked for something else. Was Grey Goose not a good brand?
Just like Madam had done not ten minutes prior, Frank Jr. walked by each girl, looking them up and down from their heads to their feet and back up. When he got to the end, I expected him to walk back down the line because he hadn't made a decision yet. Instead, he stopped in front of me, looking back at Frank and Madam. "I choose her," he said.
My eyes widened as Madam said in a raised voice, "Zell isn't one of the girls."
"She's not?" Frank Jr. questioned and turned his head to look at me.
I lowered my gaze while I waited for Madam to respond. I expected her to say something about me being her daughter, and therefore, off-limits. Instead, she said, "She's never been with a man before. She wouldn't know what to do. Pick one of the others. They will show you a good time."
My face got hot again, and I was certain I looked like a tomato. I couldn't believe that Madam had told Frank Jr. I was a virgin. I'd read about a virgin once. She met a guy with a helicopter and had weird sex with him. She seemed to like it, but that didn't mean I was ready for this handsome boy to know I was a virgin.
"Is that true?" Frank Jr. asked as he looked into my eyes. "Are you a virgin?" I nodded, not able to speak. He turned back to Madam and his father. "Then, yes, I want her."
"She's not even groomed," Madam stated to Frank.
"Son, why don't you pick someone else?"
"With all due respect, Father, you brought me here to, what was it? Become a man? Being a man is choosing who I want to sleep with, and I choose …" He paused for a moment. "Zell."
The tray I was still holding fell from my grasp and clattered onto the floor. Madam's gaze snapped to me, and my eyes widened before I quickly bent to pick it up. My heart was beating so fast in my chest that I was certain Frank Jr. could hear it. I kept my gaze on the floor, not able to look at anyone. I couldn't believe this was happening.

New Release and Review: Fool Me Once by Nikki Ash

Title: Fool Me Once
Author: Nikki Ash
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: March 5, 2020

My Thoughts and Review
This is a fun, flirty, second chance, secret baby romance; with a little bit of mystery thrown in for added measure.  I truly enjoyed the characters in this book.  Keegan was a great hero, the way he  immediately claimed Zane when he found out about him, mo questions asked.  I loved the way his whole family accepted Blakely, Zane, and Sierra.  Brenton is a character that I found easy to distrust.  He wasn't out right bad, but so many things about him threw up flags.  It did irritate me a little that Blakely didn't notice anything suspicious with Brenton.  Fans of Nikki Ash will not be disappointed by this book.  It is a quick, easy, and enjoyable read!

Blurb

I met Keegan when I was on the beach in Florida.
He literally crashed into my world.
I wasn’t looking for romance, but his two-dimpled charm made my heart go haywire.

We both had one thing in common: we were here to escape our realities.
One week. Just the two of us. Not a care in the world.
I didn’t know it at the time, but that week would forever change my life.

Four years later, and as fate would have it, Keegan and I are brought together again.
It’s as if the universe is telling us this is our second chance.
The more I get to know him, the harder I fall.
Falling hopelessly in love is inevitable with a man like him.

Only the joke’s on me, because the guy I’m falling for isn’t the man I thought he was.
You know how the saying goes: Fool me once...
I’ll be damned if I’m fooled again.

Excerpt

Just as I’m turning the page in my book, someone yells, “Watch out!” Unsure of where the voice is coming from, I look to the left and then to the right, but before I can grasp what’s happening, the circular object hits my hand, and my book flies out of my grasp and into the water.
“Shit! I’m so sorry.” A half-naked guy comes running over, sand kicking up around him as his strong legs pound into the ground. The closer he gets, the more of him I’m able to see, and holy shit, do I like what I see. Messy brown hair I could picture running my fingers through, tanned, smooth skin I would enjoy kissing and licking, and if I’m feeling frisky, biting.
My eyes rake over his tattooed, sculpted chest and down to his abs. Two-four-sex… I mean six. God damn! Look at that six-pack. He must work out, probably several times a day. Damn, I’d love for him to work me out…
As he jogs over, his corded arm muscles flex, making it appear as if the ink on his arms is coming alive, and I briefly imagine holding on to those arms while he fucks me good and hard. He runs past me, and I follow his every move. When he bends over, I check out his butt that’s hidden under his low-hanging board shorts as I fantasize about my legs wrapped around his waist and my heels digging into that butt…
But then he turns around, and in his hands is the now sopping wet copy of Wuthering Heights, and I instantly snap out of my lust-filled thoughts.
“Here you go,” he says sheepishly, the soaking wet book dangling from his fingers. Drops of saltwater fall down and land on my knee. My eyes meet his, and just as I’m about to snap at him, the corner of his mouth lifts into a nervous smile, and a single dimple pops out on his cheek, and once again, I’m momentarily distracted by just how good-looking he is.
“Thanks so much.” My reply drips with sarcasm. Taking the book from him, I examine the saturated, ruined pages, and mumble, “At least it wasn’t my mom’s copy.”
“I’m Keegan.” His half-smile turns into a cocky grin. Oh, hell, no…
“I’m not interested.”
He throws his head back with the most beautiful laugh I’ve ever heard. It’s raspy and deep and sexy. My eyes land on his Adam’s apple, and my tongue darts out, wanting to lick down his throat.
“Fair enough.” He nods. “I really am sorry about the book.” His gorgeous forest green eyes meet mine. “Can I do something to make it up to you?”
“Like sleep with me?” I give him a playful smirk. I haven’t slept with many guys, but I’ve had a couple one-night stands over the last few years. My way of lashing out over my mom’s death.
“No.” He shakes his head. “We’ve already established you’re not interested. Although, I think, based on the way you were eye-fucking me on my way over here, I could probably convince you otherwise.”
