My Thoughts and Review:

I think the best place to start this review is to say that I have never actually read the original Fairy Tales.  I know the Disney versions well.  If you have read any of the other books in the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection you will already know that these are absolutely nothing like the Disney versions of these tales.  So once I finish this collection, I think it's time to read the original Fairy Tales.

This is story is a little harder to guess from it's title.  This is a retelling of Tarzan, with a paranormal twist.  Karzan has lived on a dark island for his entire life.  Having a weird dream about a woman he has never met.  Janey has lived her life in the outside world.  She has heard all about an island with a curse on it and a prophecy to release their curse.  She to has had a weird dream about, of all things, a wolf.  Janey's father gives her everything he has for her 18th birthday in the form of a ship so she can go look for this island. 

Karzan is a strong alpha male character.  With strong morals and the will to take care of his people.  Janey, while a little bit annoying when it comes to the sexy scenes, is a woman with ambition and willingness to put aside her fear for the good of Karzan's people.  This book was a quick and enjoyable read.

Damned by the Gods, and forced to live in everlasting darkness, they continue to fight a war that has long since been buried in time.

January Wrap-up

I feel like it is time to start doing monthly wrap-up posts again.  This way I can share all of the books I read in the past month, as well as which of my challenges (and/or challenge prompts) they helped to fulfill.

1.  The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros.  This was the first buddy read of the year in my favorite Facebook reading group Reading Brings Us Together #RBUT.  This book counted toward my Mount TBR challenge since I owned my copy prior to 1/1/20.  I also used it for my #RBUT challenge, it fit perfectly in the A book by a new to you RBUT author prompt. 4. Morning Star by S. Massery If I haven't already said this before S. Massery has quickly become one of my favorite authors.  When I say this I mean like seriously she is in my top 5.  She is my only one-click author.  So I read this as an ARC, but it also hit my kindle the moment it went live on Amazon.  I used this book for the PopSugar Challenge prompt A Book That's Published in 2020.  I also used it for my #RBUT challenge prompt A Book With Less Than 500 Reviews on Goodreads or Amazon.  It was also a perfect fit for the 2020 Book Hoarder challenge prompt STAR- Cover or Title.   Here is a link to my review on Goodreads Morning Star

5. Almost Perfect by Claudia Burgoa  Have you been counting?  If so you will have realized we are now at ARC number 3 for the month/year.  I joined Claudia Burgoa's ARC team at the end of 2018 when she had sign-ups for 2019.  I have enjoyed her work so much that I just had to stay on the team again this year.  While I haven't yet read all of her work, I truly enjoy every one I have read so far.  Since Hannah (the female MC) wears glasses I used this book for the PopSugar Challenge Advanced Prompt A Book With A Character With A Vision Impairment or Enhancement (A Nod to 20/20 Vision).  Here is a link to my review on Goodreads Almost Perfect

7.  The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison   This book was book 3 on my Mount TBR challenge.  I actually purchased it in 2018 for my first attempt at the PopSugar Challenge.  I can't remember which prompt I had planned to use it for, but I obviously ended up choosing another book I read that year.  I did use this book for the 2020 Book Hoarder Challenge prompt Over 1000 Ratings on Goodreads.  It is a really good book, and I hope to be able to read the rest of the books in the series by the end of this year.  Here is a link to my review on Goodreads The Butterfly Garden

8.  Where The Little Birds Are by B. Celeste Now we have reached ARC number 4.  This was book 2 in the Little Birds duet by B. Celeste.  I was introduced to author B. 9. Wicked Dreams by S. 10. The Truth About Heartbreak by B. Celeste  While I did end up using this book for my Mount TBR challenge and the 2020 Book Hoarder prompt Over 475 pages, I honestly picked this one up this month on my own.  It was one of B. My Thoughts and Review:
Wicked Dreams is a decidedly different type of book from S. Massery. She, however, NAILED it!!!!!! This book is everything, I mean everything, you love and hate about high school.

Caleb and his friends (Theo, Liam, and Eli) rule Emery-Rose Elite School. They are the Kings of the Lacrosse team, and the students and faculty think they can do no wrong.

Margo is essentially the new girl to school. She may have attended elementary with some of these kids (a.k.a. Caleb), but 8 years in the foster care system have taken her many other places. With only 11 months left until she ages out of the system, Margo hopes to fly under the radar for her senior year. Caleb has other plans though.

Caleb and Margo have "a past"!!!! Her mom was his family's chef when she was little. That was before everything fell apart. In this book we catch glimpses of what happened that makes Caleb treat Margo the way he does.

The way Caleb bullies Margo, and is so possessive of her is in a strange way extremely hot. There is some crazy chemistry there.

This book will hook you from the very beginning. Be prepared for a crazy trip back to high school. Book 2 cannot get here soon enough!!!!!

My Thoughts and Review:
The second half of B. Celeste's Little Birds duet does not disappoint. Continuing in the same fashion, glimpses of the past from Kinley's POV as well as the present from both Kinley and Corbin. This book will have you cheering, angry, crying, and going through the whole spectrum of emotions. I love Corbin's dedication to Kinley, even when she tries to shut him out. I loved hating Lena with a passion. There was even a time when Gavin blew my mind and I was cheering him as well. So many times I literally slid away from my kindle and put my hands to my head after reading a scene. Such an amazing book.
