My Thoughts and Review:

This book is incredible. It is a second chance romance written in the stars. I enjoyed the island theme and the Hawaiian heritage included in this book. I also loved that there was a character to hate. These characters were each unique and well developed. I loved the depth of the family relationship the Alexander family had, as well as the friendship Jax and Thad shared.

My Thoughts and Review:

This is an amazing retelling of Mulan. I loved Lia. She is an incredibly strong, talented, and courageous young woman. What she was willing to put herself through for her family and her people was mind blowing. Jaxon is a powerful man. The way he falls for and cares for Lia and forgives her for pretending to be something she is not is admirable.

Now, I will say for being set in San Francisco and LA in what seemed to be present day, it frequently felt like China in the past. This didn't have the typical mafia romance feel. So there were times it became a little hard to believe that these events could actually be happening without intervention from law enforcement.

Still a very enjoyable book that I didn't want to put down.

All I am a British author, from the depths of the rural countryside near London. In a previous life, I was an accountant from the age of twenty-one. I still do that on occasions, but most of my life is now spent intermingling writing while looking after my husband, two children and two cats (probably in the inverse order to the one listed!). When I have some spare time, I can also be found writing poetry, baking cakes (and eating them), or behind a camera snapping like a mad paparazzi.
